We believe the process of learning is rich and should not be rushed. Each student has unique creative potential that we are passionate about cultivating to equip them for a fulfilling life of thinking, questioning, and creating. We understand that the study of dance creates compassionate, problem-solving, disciplined, curious, confident, creative members of our society. Our program attracts the thinkers, the wigglers, the jumpers, the scribblers, the dreamers, the creators.

Weekly Class Time: Saturdays @ 9:30 – 10:15 AM

Session I: Saturdays, January 12 – February 23  @ 9:30 – 10:15 AM
Session II: Saturdays, March 2 – April 27 @ 9:30 – 10:15 AM (off March 16 and April 20)

Session Cost: $175 total for parent and child per session; register for both sessions for $325
Teacher: Lydia Hance

Class Description: Parent and child will bond in this fun class that focuses on motor skill development, creativity, musicality, and coordination. Through dance and the use of props, little ones will explore space through movement, and begin to learn to take direction from a teacher (other than a parent). Benefits include:

  • early development of balance
  • early development of rhythm
  • increased attentiveness
  • better listening skills
  • new little friends
  • early learning of the importance of movement and exercise. And good for you for modeling this!

Dress Code: Anything you can move in. We dance barefoot.

Location: Our new home for all of our classes is at the River Oaks School of Dancing in the Shepherd Square Shopping Center at the corner of Shepherd and Westheimer.

Class Description: This is your child’s first “big kid” dance class without a parent. This fun class focuses on motor skill development, creativity, musicality, independence, and coordination. Through dance and the use of props, little ones will explore space through movement, and experience new independence and creative choices. Benefits include:

  • better listening skills
  • new little friends

MultiGen Framers – Winter 2019

MultiGen Framers – Winter 2019

AGES 6-99 & baby-wearing caretakers

Weekly Class Time: Saturdays, January 12 – April 27, 2018 @ 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM (off March 16 and April 19)
Semester Cost: $250 for one participant; $280 for two family members
Teacher: Lydia Hance

Class Description: These students discover dance as a means of self- expression, exploration, and community connection through creative experiences. Based in modern dance technique and improvisation, this class welcomes beginners of all ages and advanced students who are looking to rejuvenate their creative practices. Families are encouraged to take this class together. For ages 6-99 and baby-wearing caregivers.

Dress Code: Anything you can move in.  Leggings, sweat pants, t-shirts, and yoga tops are all great options.  We dance barefoot.

Location: Our new home for all of our classes is at the River Oaks School of Dancing in the Shepherd Square Shopping Center at the corner of Shepherd and Westheimer.

Frame Dance Youth Ensemble – Winter 2019

Frame Dance Youth Ensemble – Winter 2019

The Frame Dance Youth Ensemble provides students from to 14 years old the opportunity to experience dance in a context that values the individual and the creative process. The program is dedicated to high-quality technical training within a non-competitive environment and offers access to masterclasses in costume design, photography, repertoire, anatomy, and dance history by leading professionals. Our curriculum caters to each student’s strengths and is designed to encourage creative expression and a positive body image. The program exposes and connects students to Frame Dance’s professional company and the Multigenerational Framers, our community ensembleWe are a nurturing, adventurous, and dynamic setting for students who seek either sheer enjoyment or the more serious pursuit of becoming an advanced artist.  

Little Framers

AGES 5-7

Class Description:  Little Framers (part of the Frame Dance Youth Ensemble) is built on a cohesive education of modern dance and ballet techniques, rehearsal, and performance.  Junior Framers hone their technique while continuing to grow creatively, collaborate with others, and learn choreography for performance.  Though this class focuses more intensely on technique, these students are encouraged to develop creatively, finding and articulating their own artistic voices.

Dress Code: Leggings and a form-fitted top or leotard and black tights.  Boys: form fitted t-shirt or tank top and cotton or stretchy pants/shorts. This class is taken with soft ballet slippers and in bare feet.  Hair must be pulled back, no loose jewelry.

Location: Yogaleena Yoga Studio
